Einfach Böhmisch

Einfach Böhmisch is a small brass band from Heythuysen. “New” Bohemian brass music is interspersed with classic Egerländers and various crowd favorites. But always with Pepper and Salt… and their own unique twist. All this ensures that this band from Heythuysen in Central Limburg has become a welcome guest at brass band festivals, but also certainly on a terrace for a pleasant musical afternoon.

Midsummer fair

The sun is at its highest, nature is at its most beautiful. The Midsummer festival has been around for centuries. We will celebrate this on Sunday, June 21, in Museum village de Locht and in the holistic center “Leef”, our neighbors across the street. We both reflect on the solstice through a midsummer fair, each in our own way, but with the same goal: a healthy lifestyle and a healthy diet!

Nutrition, the key theme for the coming years! Today, Piet is out in his garden talking about growing organic vegetables in open ground. Inside the greenhouse, Mart and Bert are present; they know everything about organic farming and growing on substrates such as rockwool. Listen to their story and view the cucumbers, tomatoes, strawberries, roses, and gerberas.

Do you want information about herbs or want to buy herbs? Then Maj is the place to be. Beekeeper Jan is ready to tell you about bees and honey. What do you want to hear about mushrooms? Ton can tell you all about them; he has grown them for years. You can buy vegetables at the auction in the Asparagus Building. Walk in and buy your vegetables with the push of a button, just like in the old days.

Go take a look in the insect garden or stroll past all the market stalls. Our volunteers display their hobbies and collections there, to the pleasant sound of accordion music. Various artisans are at work. Piet is grinding grain. Or simply go for a coffee on the terrace, relax, and enjoy the brass band playing in the kiosk.

Making a flower wreath

The children’s activity on this Sunday is also dedicated to the Midsummer festival. Women and children danced around the Maypole with flower wreaths in their hair to celebrate summer.

We are going to make a small wreath with the children, using fresh, wonderfully fragrant flowers. We have picked various types and colors. We have already made the base for the wreath, a braided cord. We will show you how to secure the flowers in it.

Use your imagination and creativity. Find your favorite flowers, choose the colors, and tuck them between the cord. Decide for yourself what the wreath will look like. Make a cheerful little wreath, put it on your head, and take it home. Have fun!

Št’ástní Muzikanti

In the spring of 2023, the idea arose among a few enthusiasts of Czech brass music to form a new brass band. With enthusiasm and years of experience in various brass bands, these cheerful musicians have embarked on a new musical adventure.

Close friends present themselves under the name Št’ástní Muzikanti (cheerful musicians). The musical genre primarily consists of Moravian wind music, with occasional forays into Bohemian sounds.

Rockband Before Monday

Brechje Jeuken, Sef Hendrikx, Frie van de Munckhof, and Otto van Dijk have been playing together for a few years now. In previous musical years, they had already earned their stripes in various other lineups. Guitars and vocals do the work. BlackBerry Smoke, The Levellers, Watkins Family Hour, Paul Carrack, VanWyck, Sheryl Crow, Nathalie Merchant, and then with their own unique twist. ‘Music for a few easy hours.’

Senior orchestra Horst aan de Maas

The Senior Orchestra Horst and Surroundings was founded in March 1993 and consists of over twenty active musicians (including a male and a female singer) from Horst and its immediate surroundings. The orchestra’s versatile repertoire includes, among other things, recognisable big band music, Limburgish music, folk music, pop, and mood music.

Bigband 6611 is a friendly amateur orchestra led by conductor Pier Borkent in which musicians from Overasselt and the surrounding area play. They play a variety of pop, rock, blues and jazz numbers and bring the swing in it.

Rooyal Orchestra Venray

Orchestra Rooyal, founded in 1988 as the Venray Senior Orchestra, consists of over 20 musicians who perform a diverse program. A singer, a keyboardist, a guitarist, and an accordionist have been added to the original lineup. The repertoire is extremely varied: from rock to ballad, from polka to waltz, from party tunes to relaxing music.
